My name is Francis Smith I am 19 years old and I am an Austrian-Hungary Sniper. I joined the Austrian-Hungary ARMY becouse Serbia hired the Black Hand gang to assionate our archduke Franz Ferdinand so I felt that it was my duty an an Austrian-Hungary citizen to serve my country.Before I joined the war on the weekends I enjoyed riding my motorcycle. And spending time with my family and friends, I have two brothers Frank and Steve who also joined the ARMY with me. I grew up in a small Austria-Hungary town on a dairy farm that my family had owned for over three generations. I have a girlfriend named Brooke and when I return home we plan to get married.
Our nation got involved in WWI becouse Servia`s Prime Minister hired a gang called the Black Hand gang lead by Gavrilo Princip to assionate the Archduke of Austria Hungary Francis Ferdinand. Our nation was shocked when we heard the news of the Archduke Francis Ferdinand being assionated by the Black Hand gang. So our nation demanded that Servia punish those who were responsible for the assionation of the Archduke Francis Ferdinand.So when Servia refused to punish the people responsible for the assionation Austria-Hungary declared war on Servia and that is why I believe our natiion got involved in WWI.
My country`s battle plan involves using a Schlieffen plan where we will send German soldiers from the Central powers alliance between Austria-Hungary and Germany to fight and defeat France as quickly as possiable, and then we will send German soldiers to defeat Russia. Meanwhile after Germany had defeated France and Russia, we will send Austrian and German soldiers to launch a major attack on Servia where German soldiers will be sent to the western front of Servia and Austrian soldiers will be sent to invade the capitol of Srevia. The soldiers will use the latest weapons availaible incluiding tanks and mortors so that they can defeat the Serbs in a quick and timely manner.
My country`s reaction to the treaty of versailles was very bad becouse where Germany and Austrian-Hungary had once ruled, new nation`s where starting to emerge and take the place of the more powerful nation`s such as Germany and Austria-Hungary and that made us Austrian`s pretty mad becouse they had worked so hard to make our country as powerful as it is and now it`s power is being taken away.
December 8th
I had just compleated sniper training a few months back and I graduated at the top of my sniper training class but nothing could have ever prepaired me for what I was going to encounter. Our regiment is advancing slowly to the western front of Servia and we are also getting bombed with mortors almost everyday and the ringing in my ears hasnt stoped since I got here. Last night when I was on patrol I was ambushed by a serbian soldier and nearly escaped with my life. Luckly fellow soldiers from my company heard the gun shots and rushed to my aid,if it hadnt been for them I would have been dead.
December 25th
Today there was a eerie silance the sound of explosion`s and gun fire had subsided and there was peace for a change. I don`t know why but today there was total peace, and it was well needed several of my friend`s have been wounded so far and it was nice not to have to worry for a day. Our regimend spent Christmas exchanging the small gifts that we had extra of such as chocolate,crackers,decks of cards. We also got some well needed rest, it has been very hard having dhristmas without my family. I think of then constantly and I can`t wait to go home and see them agin.
Our regiment just got word today that we will be returning home in a few days. I can now breath a sigh of relief knowing that the war is coming to an end. From what I hear there will be crowds of people in our small town awaiting our arrivial home waiting to call us hero`s and shower us with flowers but I don`t care. I just want to see my family agin and get back to normal everyday life.
